About Us
Gold Dot Roasting is run by life partners Mitra Mostofi and Rocky Lewycky, based in Boulder Creek, California, deep in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
In our day jobs, teaching college ceramics and working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we are both rooted in contributing to inclusion, growth, and building communities. Outside of that, our lives are shaped by the outdoors: camping, hiking, traveling, and staying close to nature, along with the simple rituals that bring people together like shared meals and time with family and friends.
We’re makers at heart. Between us we share four decades of ceramic work and a lifetime appreciation for coffee. We’re especially drawn to process and to the parallels between roasting coffee and firing gas kilns. Both require patience, intuition, and attention to subtle transformation.
We care deeply about craftsmanship and longevity. We’re drawn to things that are made well, built to last, and rooted in intention. Gold Dot grew from a desire to share what we love and to align with people and producers who value sustainability, strong ethics, and the bigger picture of how our choices ripple outward.
At its core, Gold Dot is about sharing joy and simplicity: the quiet warmth of a great morning cup, the beauty of things made with care, and the routines that ground us while bringing the sensory experience of life into focus.
